Parliament activities in India almost always get abruptly adjourned due to some irresponsible persons (be in ruling party or opposition) showing off their protest by walking out, damaging parliament properties, and even boycotting some particular sessions with eerie slogans, and irresponsible activities. We, the common public are affected worst due to those illogical activities of the persons we ourselves select and send to represent us at the highest stage of constitution. This has been a trend for quite a long time, and recently over nuke deal the parliamentary proceedings were lost in the last session. Our leaders do not have time for our own problems, which they are supposed to present in the parliament. Discussions over many really important bills are being postponed day by day. Moreover, a lost day costs around $200,000 to the government, and ironically, the Indians pay the entire money from their pocket as tax duties. With all these issues and many more, Hundreds of Indian activists have held a silent protest against the frequent disruption of parliament by MPs.

Indians have every right to protest if their leaders do not care for them any more, and their carelessness comes as tax burden to the shoulders of Indian citizens. Why should they pay for a service that they never get? The people from all over India came voluntarily to stage a silent protest over the entire matter. The activists do think that some drastic steps are required to shake Indian MPs who have this bad habit of wasting time of the citizens and the parliament as well.

Thanks to the regular live telecasts of the parliament sessions in television, people are being more and more concerned about what is happening behind their back. The same person selected from their territory gets himself involved in various eerie activities and unfortunately they seem to have no interest in doing the jobs they are appointed for. Work culture is missing from every single part of Indian life. Indian parliament and the dignified MPs are the worst example of the statement.

Nisha Kothari has been setting the screen ablaze with her sizzling performances and item numbers in various movies. This sultry siren is known as Ramu’s muse for Ramu’s inclination towards casting her in sizzlers. But ask Nisha about her tag, she is even not ready to call herself sexy, citing reasons that she feels awkward by this tag. She is herself a very simple and conservative person at heart.

In an interview she was found saying,

It’s very flattering and embarrassing at the same time. I don’t think I am sexy at all. I am a very conservative person at heart. But it’s some thing that comes with a job and I have not done anything that’s vulgar

Well, that’s her opinion. But for her millions of fans in India, she is nothing but a sexy symbol in silver screen. She has not yet shown any class acting talent in any of her movies, rather she has been exploited again and again by being offered roles of item girls, or mare show pieces to make a film moving in box office. Quite unfortunate, but her recent effort in Ram Gopal verma ki Aag also was a massacre. So, it is obvious she is not suited for main stream acting. May be internally she is conservative, but Nisha you need to understand public goes with what they are seeing, and the roles you perform will definitely give you the tag of a sex symbol. Being refered as sexy is also a complement. It is better for her she understand this simple fact. Otherwise it would be very hard for her to survive in Bollywood.

The Bollywood gossip mills are busy these days predicting a break up between Shahid and Kareena due to the stepping in of Saif Ali Khan. Amid this speculation comes another movie starring this cute couple of Bollywood. Shahid and kareena will be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab we met, an interesting story with somehow common plot.

Jab we met shows a business person (Shahid), devastated with his own life as his girlfriend is being married elsewhere, decides to leave Mumbai and catches a train. In the mean time Kareena also escapes from Mumbai to elope with her boyfriend. They met on the train. Very soon they find themselves dejected in a platform without money or luggage. Shahid helps her to go back to her home Ambala, where they are mistaken as couple. Then Shahid decides to help Kareena to go all over to Manali to her boyfriend. But at the mean time he has started loving her. Story changes at this point and reaches climax through another strange journey.

Storyline is quite common. But with Imtiaz Ali as director, you can expect something unexpected in this apparently known storyline. His debut film Socha Na Tha fetched brilliant review from critics all over India. He has this uncanny habit of making ordinary films that turn out to be extra ordinary ones. It happened with socha na tha, now we do expect he comes out with same magic in Jab We Met as well. Whether their relationship is in turmoil that is not the concern of the viewers, they want a good entertainer, and with India’s two leading actors on board and Imtiaz as director, we can become more hopeful about a nice upcoming movie in Jab we met.

‘Gandhi my Father‘ has been in the news for quite a long time. The unusual and never attempted storyline prompted the media run for any news about that project. Moreover it got high praise in a special screening in South Africa. But according to Rajeev Masand the film is nothing more than a poorly told history story, enough to help you sleep in your school. In a recent review he has analyzed the movie with all its aspects in thorough details. The movie was supposed to deal with the fractured relationship of Mahatma and his son Harilal. The historical evidences are preserved carefully, the chronicle is maintained properly, and finally it seems that the director has messed it up completely while shooting.

The main aspect of the film was how the attempt of Gandhi to become a fair person, ultimately proved him as an unfair father. He has created the moral of modern India, but at the same time has sacrificed the future of his own son. When the country was dreaming of progressing towards new sunrise, Harilal actually witnessed the sunset. This contradiction could be put in more better way, but the director failed miserably. In the words of Masand,

Instead of showing us how exactly Harilal dealt with this betrayal and what went on in his head, the director just moves along with the story, thus never letting us be witness to the growing resentment Harilal feels towards his father. Which is why when we finally see an outburst from Harilal, it comes off looking like he’s over-reacting

Quite expected event isn’t it? A film that deals with the stained relationship of the most high profile family in India needs constant care so that the entire story becomes very much realistic. Any single violation from the fact could lead towards massive public outbreak. In a situation like this, the very decision of going with this film is something to praise off. Feroz Abbas Khan deserves a standing ovation for his courage and bravery to attempt a masterpiece. The very topic Gandhi itself is enough contradictory. There are so many shades to deal with. And certainly this is not like another Munna Bhai, where Gandhi was dealt with a different manner. A biographical critique must follow the truth, and may be however boring to some people, it should follow the historical ups and downs. So this kind of films need certain different mindset. It is undoubtedly the director missed the track quite a few times, but as a whole, the movie will always be remembered as a historical masterpiece that had the guts to deal with the untold story of Gandhi family.

Aamir Khan is known for his drastic experiments in Bollywood. He is choosy about his films, and even more choosy about the films he produce. Quite a bit discussion, script changing, and an open interfere in selecting his crew, Aamir is not immensely popular with his directors. However, when he delivers, it becomes a masterpiece. So, directors with different stories and higher ambitions always try to snatch Aamir despite of his immensely interfering nature. This time, if the rumors are to believe, Aamir is all set to make a film for foreign audience. He will be shooting the film completely in English, and the movie will not be released in India. For another source, Aamir has even penned down the story to a certain extent. A source from the industry said

Aamir has been discussing with his friends this plan to make an English film and has actually even confined to a script. The director of the film is yet to be choosen

It is evident that with the entire Bollywood, Aamir is also changing his genre. After receiving fame throughout India, may be now he is eying a foreign audience. Though the name of the director is not finalized yet, but with Aamir on board, one can easily expect some last minute surprise as well. However, in recent times he has been known as playing roles that are different radically. Akaash in Dil Chahta Hai had a completely different philosophy of live from Bhuwan in Lagaan. Mangal Pandey was a historic character. But in both the cases Aamir played roles that fought against British rules, and created a hype of patriotism in all over the country. This time, with around 180 degree turn, Aamir is all set to make film for the very Britons, and moreover he does not want to release it in India.

Making film in foreign language and releasing it overseas is of no harm, but the decision to release it in abroad only, if true, can create heavy consequences for him. What does he want to show? Indians can not understand his movie? Or even he is not confident about its success in India? If the later is the reason, then a person like him is not supposed to accept a project just for the sake of accepting it. The time has changed a lot after Lagaan, and so did Bhuwan. We can simply wish him luck for his new experiment. Whatever be the reason, this will be the first time a producer in India is neglecting his own country men to get International fame. The rumor is not supported officially. We have to wait for the actual story till it comes out.

Paris Hilton is in headlines again. Well, not for the usual stuff she is (in)famous of. This time she exhibits her feelings towards environmental issues. She is going to swap her gas-guzzling Range Rover SUV for a Ford hybrid after the later was gifted to her from the manufacturers. In My Space she was found saying

I’m getting a car from Ford, a hybrid one. They gave me one. So, I think driving hybrid cars is the new way to go, and recycling

Paris Hilton was always center of all hypes. This lady has a very clear idea on how to remain in headlines forever. Till these days she was in headlines for some different and controversial issues, which has damaged her image to a certain amount. After imprisonment scenario she has come out with new ‘insight‘ and finally has come out with plans to sober up and do some damage control to her already damaged image. So what else could she opt for? The environment makes to headlines these days. She grabbed the opportunity to come back to the head lines once again.

Whatever be the intension, the message is somehow beneficial for the sake of environment itself. Driving hybrid or eco friendly cars will certainly pull down the total amount of air pollution all over the world. Hilton started it all well, but messed it up due to her habit of running after cheap publicity. She needs to understand there must be an end of this typical behaviour. She needs to concentrate in these issues, that’s all right, but a complete different mindset is more necessary than her actual interfare. If she comes out as genuine environmentalist, she will be more accepted among the people than these kinds of gimmicks. She has lived her life in a different way. It is better she does not mess up with serious issues of greater concern just to gain cheap publicity.

Govinda certainly is not having good time these days. After starting acting once again he has done some really enjoyable films, including the likes of Bhagam Bhag, and Partner. But the problem lies elsewhere. He is constantly pitched against all his co stars in all of his recent performances. As a veteran actor he is quite irritated with all these comparisons and is desperate to stop all these business. In a witty statement he comments

I’m not just pitched against my male co-stars but even female co-stars. When I did films with Karisma Kapoor people kept debating on which of us danced better...Good that they never spoke about who looked prettier. Seriously, I don’t want this kind of murky competition. It’s hampering my career

So it is all about career then? He himself might have realized that after being missed out in the bollywood for qute a long time it will not be possible for him to come back once again and conquer the industry. It is almost impossible for him now to pull an entire movie on his shoulder. May be this is the main reason behind his decision to stop comparison. He now wants to live peacefully in Bollywood, not as a competing actor.

Govinda however must have noticed Akshay Kumar walking away with all credits in Bhagam Bhag, but at current he is not in a condition to argue for the same. He said he is quite happy with his role in Bhagam Bhag. He is in a re installation phase of his career, where he needs to settle down in the industry as soon as possible. But as far as tomorrow is concerned, we may never have any entire Govinda show like he used to deliver earlier. He may always have to come with a co star, at least for the time being, and the comparison will be inevitable.

After Bipasha now it is Akshay Kumar, the flamboyant superstar in Indian film industry, to voice his feeling overtly while protesting tremendous media speculations over his married life. Though this was not the first time his personal life was discussed in public. Having an onscreen playboy image, he has been enjoying immense public attention throughout his career. This time a Mumbai newspaper reported split in his married life with Twinkle. A recent spat with Twinkle has forced Akshay to leave his home and check into the JW Marriot hotel, the newspaper reported. However, the couple came back strongly protesting against the article. They even have sent a legal notice to the news agency. Their media statement was

We have never reacted to what is written about us because we are happy in our own little world and have never felt the need to prove anything to anyone. But people are taking advantage of our silence to slander us and write things without an iota of truth, which we shall not accept anymore

There are gossip magazines that survive on creating and spreading gossips about the superstars of his stature. Being in helm of success for quite a long time and his onscreen popularity drags people to his personal life. One of the common rules of business is, if an item is selling like anything, produce more. So when there is no story left, gossips originate. As a person no one can become at the headlines, and the news agencies also need something for their readers. Gossips and spicy stories are somehow inevitable and indispensable part of the life of a superstar.

But there should be a limit. There are matters which can not be dealt publicly. Matters relating to love affairs, married life, and split in a relationship are better kept private for them. Today the superstars have a life that common people thrive to achieve, but ask any of them; in very deep of their mind, they are immensely unhappy with all of these attentions to their personal life. They are after all human beings, and are needed to be treated like human. Stepping into their personal lives does not give readers anything. It is better we leave them with their personal life, to get better performances from them. Fans need to understand their favourite idol also has emotions like they do, they can also have bad patches in their lives. Is it ethical to openly gossip around their bad patches? For a prolonged period this question hunts celebrity lives, but the answer is however, completely illusive.

After certain amount of damage and a deadly encounter between Indian and Pakistani army in the name of Operation Vijay India got back the hold on the situation in July. On the occasion of its eighth anniversary if we look back at the event we realize that may be it was a phenomenal victory, but the basic Kargil issue remains unchanged. We have missed the opportunity to solve the Kashmir issue in very broad sense, and need to think beyond current alternatives. Chief of Western Air Command, Air Marshal P S Ahluwalia said,

For any conflict termination, we must ensure that we come out with some advantages, else you lose men and resources and there’s strain and tension. If you get nothing at the end of it, it’s a waste of time

New military leadership is all set to say that India should have fought the war in a different manner. There have been wars between two neighboring countries in past also, and the cross border terrorism is always in the headlines. Indian military force is always alert in the Kashmir valley. But they are doing the patch works to make an already scattered system running in its way. The normal life is strangled, and the problem is however, never solved. Both the countries have seen shadow wars since their independence. The possibility of a full scale war is however feeble. The latest was the Kargil war, with the intrusion of Pakistani armed force into Indian Territory. But the war could not create an impact similar to it would have created if fought in a different way. According to Ahluwalia, there might have been some administrative fault and wartime military heads failed to produce enough options to the political heads in order to help them in making decision.

However, the war is over now, and what is lost can not come back under any circumstances. The existing problem is with the increasing tension in Kashmir valley. Kargil war is over, but the battle continues against cross border terrorism. Sixty years of independence, Kashmir issue has not moved even an inch. May be it is time to reanalyze everything, to find some other way to restore peace in the region. It is easy for the entire world to comment on this matter from the coziness of their drawing rooms. Ask the people in the valley itself; ask the mother who has lost her only son in a terrorist attack, and you’ll definitely pray the problem get neutralized soon. It is time to find a definite way to solve the puzzle, and initiative from both ends of the border is highly required.
